A Weekend of Toronto Festivals - World Music, Books & Magazines

Welcome Fall at Two FREE Toronto Festivals

The most beautiful time of year has officially begun, with outdoor events popping up across town to celebrate the perfect days and cool nights of early autumn. When it comes to weekend-things-to-do, few things compare to FREE festivals in Toronto. From live music at the Small World On Common Ground concert series to literary readings, writing seminars and book shopping at The Word On the Street, there's sure to be something happening you'll enjoy.

Small World On Common Ground Festival

September 26th & 27th, 1pm

Fort York National Historic Site

250 Fort York Blvd.

Everything from Bollywood, gypsy-pop, and Turkish folk, to flamenco, funk and Ethiopian jazz, this two-day global music mélange is your passport to infectious rhythms from around the world. In addition to non-stop tunes, performances will be punctuated with spoken word poetry, while dancers, artists and fitness experts lead the crowd in interactive entertainment.

The Word On the Street

September 27th, 11am-

Harbourfront Centre

The 26th installment of this premiere national book and magazine festival features performers from across the literary spectrum on 16 outdoor and indoor stages. In addition to FREE live readings, over 200 vendors will be on-site selling their books and magazines. Exclusive hour-long Author Cruises are also available for $25/person, as well as a slate of informative writing / publishing seminars, a youth-based literacy area, and a deliciously inspired Cooks ‘n' Books Stage with chef demos, all just a few minutes from your room or suite at our Yorkville hotel.
