The 111th Annual Toronto Santa Claus Parade Kicks Off the Holidays

Holiday Fun at the Toronto Santa Claus Parade

111th Annual Santa Claus Parade

November 15th, 12:30 pm

Starting Point:

Christie Pits Park

750 Bloor Street West

A treasured holiday tradition dating back to 1905, the 111th Annual Santa Claus Parade promises to be the most festive spectacle since live reindeer escorted the jolly old elf himself through city streets a few years later. The festive tradition is one of the largest, most historically beloved in all of North America, marking the official beginning of Christmas in Toronto.

Over A Century of Holiday History

What began with Santa simply strolling through Downtown has evolved into a world-famous spectacle of Christmas cheer. In fact, 2015 promises to bring upwards of 25 animated floats, two dozen marching bands, over 100 celebrity clowns, and thousands of costumed volunteers along a nearly six-kilometer route through much of Toronto.

Where to Watch

Conveniently, the parade passes right outside our door at The Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel. If you plan on staying here, be sure to request a room overlooking Bloor Street – or ask our Concierge where to enjoy the best view. Those who want to be in the middle of the action will find perfect views anywhere along the parade route, just be sure to claim your spot early, as spots tend to fill up fast. To help strategize your day, the parade route is as follows:

  • Starting at Christie Pits Park, the procession moves east down Bloor Street West, toward our hotel and the University of Toronto.
  • At Queens Park, the parade turns right, heading all the way south to Wellington Street West.
  • Santa and his gang then turns left onto Wellington, east to closing festivities at St. Lawrence Market.
